Hi everyone
Background knowledge: each of the 16 German states has its own a broadcasting (TV, radio) which each user has to pay a monthly fee for. Each radio station offers several channels.
In addition there are lots of private radio stations financed through advertisement and other things.
Usually it is the official radio stations which are more up to date and are also sponsoring concerts and other events involving music. There are of course also radio stations offering a more alternative and specialised variety of music.
Since I cannot listen to each station ... I mostly listen to several channels of official stations of several states and am trying One eskimO to get airplay… which has its limitations since the only single released was Kandi in 2009.
BUT yesterday I managed to have Amazing being played on a weekly theme show with songs chosen by listeners.
The theme was “songs giving strength and being of whatever help” (which they wanted to be understood as a support for the German football team playing their final game at the world cup but had not stated that clearly in their description).
Since One eskimO was not listed in their archive at all I did not think they would play it, but they did…

Other than that KANDI is being played on some stations late in the evenings or on demand in “you can make a wish” shows.
The album was presented in at least 2 newcomer shows when released.
The only station giving One eskimO altogether more airplay is “radio eins” in Berlin, since they have 2 presenters with their own shows liking the album – they also played 2 songs of the daytrotter session.
Last year and when the album was released I also called in every now and then and the answers were all positive, often stating that their station had played Kristian’s solo singles as well – but since there was no promotion done when Kandi was released it just never went into the regular rotation.
Are One eskimO getting airplay at the moment in any other European countries (outside the UK)?
I would be interested to hear about that…
