Wow, this post is ancient, but it's the only thing that comes up when I search for the words to this song.
This is what I hear:
I want to wake up
with you awake by my side.
I want to think, 'You've aged well,'
as you rise. I want to talk of nothing
in the mirror, so while it passes outside???
I want to think, but not to say,
Let me face sound and fury,
let me face hurricanes,
let me not turn away
from happiness and pain
and not to run, to be settled
in my heart and in my head.
Let me face hurricanes.
And I know age will take us
and make us, in some ways
more and in some ways less.
And I know love will settle
between us like comfort
and dust. It makes me think,
but not to say,
Let me face forest fires,
let me face hurricanes,
let me not turn away
from happiness and pain
and not to run, to be settled
in my heart and in my head.
Let me face hurricanes.
And of course we know,
in the end time will take us.
And how good it will be
when time finally comes
to finish us, to finish together
and then to rest. It makes me think,
but not to say,
Let me face forest fires,
let me face hurricanes,
let me not turn away
from happiness and pain
and not to run, to be settled
in my heart and in my head.
Let me face hurricanes.
Let me rolling seas,
let me face hurricanes,
let me not turn away
from happiness and pain
and not to run, to be settled
in my heart and in my head.
Let me face hurricanes.
Hurricanes, hurricanes
It's a really beautiful song. I saw a performance of it in Detroit in 2009 and it's stuck with me all these years.
I wish I had a good recording of it.
